Blackra1n Jailbreak is now available for iPhone OS 3.1.2, iPod touch 3G. UNLOCKERS DO NOT UPDATE!!!

George Hotz (aka geohot), the kid who was the first to unlock the original iPhone back in 2007 and then iPhone 3GS in July of this year is back! This time he is the first one to release jailbreaking solution for the new iPhone 3.1.2 Firmware for all devices with his new program/tool called blackra1n. blackra1n is a software tool which can jailbreak all iPhone’s (iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS) and iPod Touch 2G and 3G running on the latest firmware / OS 3.1.2. NOTE: Blackra1n is only supported on Windows Operating Systems.

Read the entire article and please understand there are some “cons” that you will encounter if you use this tool and upgrade to the latest 3.1.2 Firmware.

So, what is blackra1n? blackra1n is a 30 second ALL device 3.1.2 jailbreak. Even the ipt3, but the ipt3 is tethered. In order to boot it, just rerun blackra1n.

NOTE: This tool will only Jailbreak your iPhone 2G, 3G or 3GS… Please understand, this tool will not Unlock any of your devices to be used on other GSM networks such as T-Mobile, Rogers, Fido, etc. So if you rely on your Ultrasn0w unlock then I suggest staying away from upgrading to the latest 3.1.2 Firmware.

If you upgrade your iPhone to the latest 3.1.2 Firmware you will also / at the same time upgrade your basebands (Modem Firmware) from your current version (04.26.08) to the latest 05.11.07 Version which is locked for good… There is no fix to Unlock the latest 05.11.07 baseband version… There is no way to downgrade your basebands from 05.11.07 back to 04.26.08… So you WILL loose your UNLOCK and will not be able to use your iPhone on other carriers if you jump the gun and upgrade to 3.1.2… You will be able to Jailbreak it but that’s all…

If you upgrade your iPhone to the latest 3.1.2 Firmware and use the Blackra1n to jailbreak your iPhone you will also loose the ability to Sync your IPA files… There is no AppSync for the 3.1.2 Firmware so if you have a lot of IPA files / Apps on your iPhone you will not be able to use them or Sync them until the new AppSync program is created… (No one know when that will happen)

Alright now you know some of the “cons” here is a tutorial on how to use Blackra1n tool to Jailbreak your iPhone/iTouch.

Another quick note iPhone 3G and 3GS owners: Do NOT upgrade to the lates iPhone 3.1.2 OS/Firmware if you want to keep your unlock… If you do you will upgrade your basebands (Modem Firmware) to the latest 05.11.07 which will lock your iPhone for good… (You’ve been warned).

Step 1: Download and install the latest version of iTunes (Click Here to Download).

Step 2: You will now need to first update/restore to the original iPhone OS firmware 3.1.2 on your iPhone by using the latest version of iTunes.

Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone 2G
Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone 3G
Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone 3GS

Step 3: Download blackra1n for Windows (Click Here to Download).

Step 4: Start blackra1n app. People who are using Windows 7 or Vista should  run this program with “Windows XP Compatibility” mode by enabling it from the “Properties” tab so you can avoid any errors during the jailbreak process.

Step 5: Click on the only button you see… “make it ra1n”:

Step 6: Blackra1n Tool/Program will do everything for you, just sit back and wait for your device to automatically reboot.

Step 7: You should now have “blackra1n” in the list of applications on your iPhone. Run “blackra1n”, download Cydia and let it install it.

Step 8: Now reboot your iPhone (Turn it OFF and then Turn it back ON). That’s all you have to do… Now you have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch running on the latest OS/Firmware 3.1.2… If you jumped the gun and did this without realizing you will loose your unlock, you’re STUCK… You got “BRICKED”… You can no longer use your iPhone on any other networks except for the official ones…
