Enable MMS on 2G iPhone Running The Latest 3.1.2 Firmware
All you 2G iPhone users who have upgraded to the latest 3.1.2 Firmware should read this post if you want to have a Native MMS feature enabled on your iPhone… Yes you will be able to send and receive MMS messages after you follow this tutorial. This tutorial is for the first Generation iPhone, also known as 2G or EDGE
NOTE: You must have a Jailbroken iPhone in order to use this feature…
Tap / Start Cydia Installer, once in Cydia go to Manage Tab (located at the bottom) and touch Sources (big button in the middle)
NOTE: You will be adding a repository / source (iFoneGuide) in Cydia
Tap on Edit (at the top right corner) and then tap Add (at the top left corner) You will be asked to enter Cydia/APT URL source as you see it in the screen-shot below. Type http://cydia.ifoneguide.nl and then tap Add Source button. Once source is added press Return to Cydia button and then tap Done button.
Once you have competed the step above and the iFoneGuide source is added tap on Search Tab (located at the bottom) and search for Native MMS iPhone 2G, you should see it on your screen just like the example below shows it.
Once you see it one the screen / in the search result tap on it. At the next screen tap Install button and then Confirm button (at the top right corner). Once the app is installed it will automatically enable the official native MMS functionality in the Messages app on your iPhone 2G.
Reboot your iPhone, after your iPhone is restarted you should have a fully working camera button in your Messages app on iPhone 2G just like it is on iPhone 3G and 3GS. Simply populate your carrier settings for MMS found in Settings –> General –> Network –> Cellular Data Network and you are done!
iphone is a good device but not the best. However,
JaiBroken iPhone is the best iphone… the features in one jailbroken iphone = 1000 other phones combined.
i try the above procedure and its not work on my iphone 2g.
I tried this and when I rebooted my phone my messages were exactly the same, I had no extra options for messaging in my cellular data option under Settings. Please advise.

okay, i followed the steps. my texting looks the exact same and i dont have a “Cellular Data Network” in my settings
I get and installing error when I try to install Native MMS. Anyone know what causes this?
Erm… yeah. Errors when attempting to install. Tried install twice with the same results. No camera icon, no cellular data network, no extra settings.
It would be nice to have this feature enabled. Any chance we can get an app with fewer bugs that, oh, I dunno… WORKS?
please explain how to set up cellar settings. it does not appear when i install native mms
camera option shows up, puts pic and text in bubble but won’t send. No cellular data network option. Please help.
Didn’t work for me. I have 3gs 32 GB 3.1.2 not upgraded JB iphone bought in Tesco’s (tesco carrier obv). Firmware 05.11.07. Wi-fi works perfectly. But it seems it can’t conect to internet if I’m not using wi-fi. I have Rock and Cydia installed. I can use any diferent sim cards from diferent carriers, but still no cellular data service available. By the way tesco’s is O2 logo. (signal is very strong and the 3g is most of the time available in the area). Help! Anyone?
Will the Native MMS iPhone 2G work with firmware 3.1.3 ?
I just jailbreaked a 2G which is 3.1.3 am sceptical as the high
est firmware listed is 3.1.2
I have 2g with 3.1.3 jailbroken and when I install native and reboot it gets stuck at searching for a carrier… Can anyone please help with this matter?
