deb filesHave you downloaded a .deb file and now don’t have a clue what you should do with it or how to install it? Don’t worry, we got it covered for you. Here is what you do…

Before you can install any .deb (Debian software package) files to your device / iPhone you have to be familiar with SSH, Terminal, Cydia and in order for you to be able to install any .deb files you first have to have to install some software on your iPhone and your PC…

NOTE: You must have a Jailbroken iPhone in order to use this feature…

cydia

Go to Cydia and install: Mobile Terminal and OpenSSH. Once you’re in Cydia touch “search” and search for both of them… NOTE: If you’re not familiar with OpenSSH Please Read This Article.

SSH into your device as root by using the the WinSCP and upload the .deb (Debian software package) file to your device’s /var/mobile folder.

Now open the Mobile Terminal on your iPhone and do the following, Type in “su” and press return… You will be asked for the password, Type in “alpine” and press return.

Now you should see a screen with something like this: “Phone’sName-iPhone:/var/mobile root#” in my case it was MaXsKi-iPhone:/var/mobile root# because my iPhone is named MaXsKi

Now type in this command: dpkg -i name.deb (Replace name.deb with the actual file name of your .deb)
NOTE: You may delete the .deb file after completing installation.

The easiest way to uninstall .deb files is via Cydia. In fact, the app is installed just like any apps you normally download and install via Cydia. You therefore can also use Cydia to check for its updates too, for instance.
