iPhone Techie

Many of you asked me through emails and comments about my iPhone, what Apps, Games, Utilities, etc. I have on my device and what are the most “MUST HAVE” items you need to have / install after you Jailbreak your iPhone or iTouch.

Well, here is a list of my personal MUST HAVE’s and short explanation / overview of each item.

NOTE: Some of these items are strictly for iPhones but there are  lot of MUST HAVEs for iPod iTouches as well so don’t stop reading if you are a proud owner of an Apple iPod iTouch Device.

First thing I always do after the Jailbreak and all of you should do the same, is to open Cydia and make sure everything is up to date, so if this is your first time running Cydia or if you haven’t run Cydia in a while, you will get a notice about ‘Essential upgrades’. These are upgrades to the Cydia application itself that may be required for installing new packages and apps.

When presented with these options you should always go ahead and upgrade / choose Complete Upgrade or Upgrade Essential.

Now once Cydia is upgraded and up to date you can start adding REPOS / Repositories. I normally add just one Repo to begin with, this repository has it all. So if you are following me / this tutorial then add this repository to while you’re in Cydia; http://www.sinfuliphonerepo.com

These guys are great, Everything you need to get your device started you can find in this repo.  So once the repo is added here is what you need to get installed from this repo.

AppSync for OS 3.0, 3.1 or 3.1.2 Depending on your current Firmware Version.

Appsync (installd) is available for iPhone / iPod Touch OS 3.0 and 3.1. Appsync is a mobileinstallation patch for OS 3.x. So in order to install cracked iPA files via iTunes we need to install appsync (3.x) or mobilesintallationpatch (2.x)… Read this sentence again… If you’re running 2.x firmware / OS on your iPhone you will need to install “mobileinstallationpatch” not AppSync…

Battery Control Premium is my next item on the list, this feature is available on all 3Gs iPhones from factury but as we all know it’s not an option for the iPhones 2G, 3G  or the iTouch Devices. By installing this package you will be able to see your battery percentage, usage, etc. in more details. This package can be obtained from the http://www.sinfuliphonerepo.com

iFile Cracked is a must to have Application / Program, this utility tool will allow you to browse through your iPhone or iTouch system files, delete items, add items, and much more. This App can be used instead of SSH into your device.

If you have a Safari Download Manager installed on your iPhone all your Downloads will be in your VAR/MOBILE/DOWNLOADS directory and you will be able to access them via iFile.

Install0us is a perfect app to download and install IPA Application Files, with this app you would be able to navigate to the very popular site such as http://appulo.us and download and install any IPA file you desire.

MyWi Cracked and Enable Tethering for 2G, 3G or 3Gs, MyWi is an excellent Application if you want to tether your iPhone, with this you can turn your iPhone 2G, 3G or 3Gs into an Instant WiFi HotSpot and use it as a modem. After installing MyWi you will need to install a package “Enable Tethering for 2G, 3G or 3Gs”. After installing both packages open MyWi and turn on Tethering, your iPhone should start glowing blue at the top.

Orbit Cracked or OverBoard Cracked, Both of these apps do the same thing, they are kind of ‘iPhone Expose’ like concept that was designed for fast switching between iPhone home screens. Both are very quick and neat.

You can run multiple downloads at one time while browsing the internet without an interruptions.

Universal Search Cracked, you can use this tool to search the web, wiki, twitter right from your Spotlight screen. This is a very useful tool. Try it out.

YourTube Cracked, This app is great, this is what the YouTube should have been offering from the beginning… This App/Package adds a fully integrated downloader so you can keep those great videos you love to watch and show to friends.

3G Unrestrictor Cracked, This app is the premium successor of the popular VoIPover3G app for the iPhone. With this app you can unrestrict any application on your device to run / transfer data that is intended for WiFi over 3G network. For example, I have a SlingBox, I have a SlingBox App on my iPhone, the only problem is I can only watch my TV if my iPhone is connected to a WiFi network, basically it doesn’t run over 3G, with this app you can unrestrict the SlingBox App and it will run over the regular 3G network as it does on WiFi.

Another great thing about this is you can add AppStore app to it… Have you ever tried to download / install an App or a Game from AppStore but got an error stating “the File is over 10mb and you have to be on WiFi to download it?” No more, this can unrestrict the App Store App. You can do the same thing with YouTube and watch it on Edge as well.

Mobile Terminal, This app is an Terminal Emulator for the iPhone. With this app you can be the daring system administrator, always ready for the action. You can install .DEB files with a simple command “dpkd -i /name of the file.deb” You can read more about How to Install .Deb file in This Tutorial.

OpenSSH, this is a must if you want to access your iPhone’s / iTouch’s system files, add/remove files, install new packages, and much more. You can use WinSCP on Windows or Cyber Duck on Mac to access your device. This is a must have App/Package. You can read more about OpenSSH and How to Transfer Files from and to PC in this Tutorial.

SBSettings, this is a full BossPrefs replacement brought to you by BigBoss. You can Move your important toggles directly into SpringBoard where they are always available even while other apps are running. To use, slide your finger accross the status bar from left to right. A window will drop down with the toggles. More options are available when you tap the “more” button. There is no icon, this means you will not get a dedicated icon on your iPhone… All you would do is slide your finger across the status bar from left to right to open it.

Cycorder, this app will allow 2G and 3G iPhone owners record videos… So are you feeling left out by the lack of video recording on your iDevice? Rejoice because I have good news for you. CyDelete, this application will let you uninstall Cydia Packages / Applications directly from the springboard just like normal appstore game or application. Just hold the springboard icon down and tap on the “X” and the app will be uninstalled. Cydia Packages / Apps will have a RED Circle with the “X” mark.

Pandora, SlackerRadio, Drool Radio, if you are a music fan, you can install all kinds and types of apps for free from AppStore but these three are the best ones. If you like music and no advertisements this is the way to go. This is what internet radio is all about and these apps really show it off. All three have great UI.

There are many more but these are probably the ones I install right away and can’t live without.

I do not encourage anyone to download, hack or crack iPhone games or applications. Developers spend a lot of time, money, effort, sacrificing family time, etc. working on games/apps and they don’t want to see their work stolen or pirated.

I suggest if you have downloaded an IPA file of an iPhone game or application that you like, download it legally through the App Store after you test it and decide that you really like it and would like to keep it on your iPhone.
