Apple Has Released the iOS 4.0.2 for iPhones, iOS 3.2.2 for iPad and iPod Touch Devices to Patch JailbreakMe Exploit

iOS4.2.2 is out for iPhones, iTouch and iPad devices

Just about one hour ago I have written an post about a possible update from Apple for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices and exactly one hour later the update has been released.

Apple has just released iOS 4.0.2 for all iPhones, iPod touches, and iOS 3.2.2 for iPad to patch the PDF exploit which was used by JailbreakMe to jailbreak all iOS devices on iOS 4.0.1.

Jailbreakers and Unlockers, STAY AWAY From this update or you will be locked out and your device will lose the Jailbreak.

Apple has posted a support document outlining the security issue that has been fixed.

A stack buffer overflow exists in FreeType’s handling of CFF opcodes. Viewing a PDF document with maliciously crafted embedded fonts may allow arbitrary code execution. This issue is addressed through improved bounds checking.

If you don’t care about the Jailbreak or Unlock then to update to iOS 4.0.2 for iPhone, and iOS 3.2.2 for iPad, all you need to do is to connect your iPhone/iPod touch/iPad with your computer via USB and start iTunes.

You should now see a message as shown above. Simply click on “Download and Install” button to get on to the new firmware.

3G iphones jailbreak and unlock fine with redsnow 9.5b!
However, Appsynch 4.0 doesn’t seem to work for now. Hopefully it will work in the next couple of days.
