Hey guys I have some bad news for all Jailbreakers out there who are anxiously waiting on the iOS 4.2 since the iPhone Dev Team said it could be Jailbroken right after Apple releases it.

According to a tweet from Comex the iOS 4.2 jailbreak may be delayed because Cydia is not yet ready for the new firmware and so as a result, the next update for Limera1n based iOS 4.2 jailbreak might be delayed but he didn’t really say anything else about it. At this point there is no estimated release date for the new iOS 4.2 Jailbreak but I’m sure it won’t be too long.

This would be a good time for all of you to save your SHSH blobs on your iPhones, iPads or iPod Touch devices running on iOS 4.1, tutorial is at the end of this article.
However, a 4.2 jailbreak might be delayed because Cydia doesn’t work on 4.2 yet. Not sure how close @chpwn is to finishing his fixes.

Comex also noted earlier that anyone with blobs for 4.1 or earlier should be able to get an untethered 4.2 jailbreak.

While Apple cant patch the original bootrom based Limera1n exploit, the userland exploit though can be patched easily by a firmware upgrade such as iOS 4.2.

Apple yesterday released the new iOS 4.2 GM Seed firmware to developers which indicates the public release is coming very soon.

Since Apple hasn’t released iOS 4.2 to public yet, now is the time to save your SHSH blobs to make sure you get an untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2. Once the public version of iOS 4.2 is released, Apple will stop signing the old firmware, making it possible for you to get blobs for iOS 4.1.

HOW TO SAVE SHSH BLOBS WITH TINYUMBRELLA 4.1.12

Use the step by step guide posted below to save your SHSH blobs (ECID SHSH) of iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 2G/3G on iOS 4.0.2 and iPad without having to jailbreak your device.

Step 1: Download the latest version of  TinyUmbrella for  Windows | OS X | Linux

Step 2: Make sure you are running iTunes > 9.0. iTunes 10 or higher is recommended.

Step 3: Start the program and plug in any ONE of the supported iDevices (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch launch the .exe file. TinyUmbrella will automatically detect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

Step 4: Click on “Save My SHSH”,  TinyUmbrella will now grab the signature for you.
