Well, I kind of knew this was going to happen sooner or later, and it sure did happen.

Apple has informed retailers that MobileMe Retail Boxes have been discontinued and has removed MobileMe from its online store, according to a MacRumors report.

Apple also appears to have entirely removed MobileMe from its online store, both as a standalone product and as bundled with new Macs. Apple had previously offered a $30 discount on MobileMe when purchased with a new Mac, but that offer is no longer available. Read more…

Apple is Making MobileMe Gallery Free as Well in Addition to The Find My iPhone Service

Another great news from Apple today… In addition to offering Find My iPhone free, it looks like Apple may also offer the MobileMe Gallery at no charge to non-subscribers which is very cool because this feature is a must if you have the new Apple TV 2G and would like to share your photos via MobileMe.

The new mobile signin page for MobileMe shows ‘Find My iPhone’ and ‘MobileMe Gallery’ separated about the paid iDisk and Mail, Contacts, and Calendar syncing services.

Mobile Me Find My iPad Service Gets Will.i.am his iPad back

Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.am used his MobileMe Find My iPad service to catch a thief who stole $10,000 worth of jewelry and other belongings from his Bentley.

KTLA reported, Will used his iPad’s built-in tracking system to locate the thief’s whereabouts and then forwarded the information to police. Police apparently located some of the goods and returned them to the performer

Apple Came Out with new Mobile Me

Apple on Friday debuted its new interface for the MobileMe subscription service, sporting a new look for its me.com e-mail and adding a Find My iPhone application for tracking a lost handset on iOS devices.

The new MobileMe Mail has been in beta since May for users who chose to opt in. The update features a new widescreen view interface, improved performance, server-side e-mail rules, a formatting toolbar for adding rich text to e-mails, and new SSL security when composing and sending e-mail.
