Apple iTunes Connect Service will be Closed for the Holidays, December 23rd to 28th

iTunes Connect Will Be Closed December 23-28

Apple has informed developers that iTunes Connect will be temporarily closed from December 23rd to December 28th.

I’m sure it will piss off a lot of developers, but I guess thats one of the drawbacks of being an Apple developer, you are on Apple’s leash at all times and have to do what they say.

I think the bad thing about this closing is the fact that developers will not be able to make any changes to their apps while the iTunes Connect is down so if something goes wrong with one of their apps, the developer will have to wait until December 28th to fix any issues.

This does not affect app consumers in anyway but as I stated above, since the iTunes Connect service will be unavailable  it will not allow developers to make changes to or submit any new apps during that time frame. Read more…

VLC, the very popular media player for Windows, Mac and Linux which was ported to the Apple iPad in September and also to the iPhone last week, may very soon (too soon if you ask me) be gone from the App Store because of of copyright infringement.

Apple has been sent a formal notification of copyright infringement regarding the way VLC for iOS is distributed in the App Store.

Rémi Denis-Courmont, one of the primary developers of VLC, explained to MacStories that Apple’s iTunes Terms and Conditions don’t allow users to install both free and paid apps on more than 5 devices. This goes against the original GNU license VLC’s code is based on. Read more…
