Untethered iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak Is Going To Be a Cydia Package .DEB to Be Installed After Redsn0w

Comex has tweeted something very interesting, It looks like the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 might be as simple as installing a package from Cydia over your existing Redsn0w tethered jailbreak – Yes, you don’t need to restore or re-jailbreak your device.

Comex: it’s probably going to be a Cydia package. if I can get it to work.

When someone asked Comex “what do you mean by that”, Comex replied: Read more…

However before they do a general release, they are looking for testers to try out this latest version of Redsn0w. The requirements for testing Redsn0w for iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak are as follows.

Over the Christmas weekend we’ll be releasing a version of redsn0w that implements the ‘backup plan’ to the 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak. We’re seeking your help to test this redsn0w and find any bugs before we do a general release!

Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 May Not Be Ready For Christmas Release, Comex Will Miss His Deadline

Hey guys, I have some bad news for all of you (and Me), Initially it was expected for the untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak to be released somewhere around the Christmas Eve. But if this latest tweet by Comex is anything to go by, we may not see an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 by this Christmas.

Comex has tweeted saying that he may not be able to complete his untethering of the current jailbreak by Christmas.

I think I’m going to miss my Christmas deadline…

On Tuesday the iPhone Dev-Team announced that their ‘backup plan’ untethered jailbreak is nearly ready and will not require a restore of your device. Read more…

Untethered Jailbreak 'Backup Plan' - Next Version of Redsn0w Will Allow You To Untether iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak Without RESTORE

The iPhone Dev-Team has announced that their ‘backup plan’ untethered jailbreak is nearly ready and will not require a restore of your device.

The next version of Redsn0w will include an option which will allow you to untether your iPhone jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1 without having to restore your device.

According to MuscleNerd, the backup plan for those w/legit access to 4.2b3 IPSW is about ready…again though, better to wait for comex

Thanks to comex, redsn0w can now handle much bigger files than ramdisk 25MB limit. Useful for “backup plan” 4.2 untether

it shouldn’t require a restore…just another redsn0w run. (That’s the goal!) Read more…

iOS 4.2.1 Untethered Jailbreak Release Before Christmas 2010 Confirmed by Comex

My previous post about great news in regards to the new Untethered Jailbreak solution which was shared with us by MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev Team.

Comex the creator of Spirit and JailbreakMe has also confirmed that a more efficient userland-based untethered jailbreak method for iOS 4.2.1 will be released before Christmas 2010.

This confirmation in fact came before MuscleNerd got a backup method to make jailbreak untethered on iOS 4.2.1 which I just wrote about in my previous post. Read more…

Untethered iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak Is Coming Before Christmas (CONFIRMED!!!)

Great News Everyone!!! The long wait for the Untethered iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak is on its way and it will be here before Christmas. As you all know, up to this point the only iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak that was available is the Tethered Jailbreak which is pretty inconvenient if you ask me.

MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that he has got untethered jailbreak working on the latest iOS 4.2.1 firmware. He further explains that this a “backup” plan to Comex’s upcoming userland method and that it is generalizable.

iOS 4.2 Untethered Jailbreak May Be Delayed Because Cydia is Not Yet Ready for the New Firmware

iOS 4.2 Jailbreak Might be delayed due to Cydia not being ready

Hey guys I have some bad news for all Jailbreakers out there who are anxiously waiting on the iOS 4.2 since the iPhone Dev Team said it could be Jailbroken right after Apple releases it.

According to a tweet from Comex the iOS 4.2 jailbreak may be delayed because Cydia is not yet ready for the new firmware and so as a result, the next update for Limera1n based iOS 4.2 jailbreak might be delayed but he didn’t really say anything else about it. At this point there is no estimated release date for the new iOS 4.2 Jailbreak but I’m sure it won’t be too long.

This would be a good time for all of you to save your SHSH blobs on your iPhones, iPads or iPod Touch devices running on iOS 4.1, tutorial is at the end of this article.
However, a 4.2 jailbreak might be delayed because Cydia doesn’t work on 4.2 yet. Not sure how close @chpwn is to finishing his fixes. Read more…

Limera1n Jailbreak Geohot Exploit

Come to find out our boy Geohot has another untethered jailbreak exploit that he held back from Limera1n to prevent Apple from learning about it.

Incase you were wondering why Geohot used a userland exploit from Comex to make Limera1n untethered, it was because he did not wanted to waste his untethered version of bootrom exploit.

Both Comex and MuscleNerd has confirmed that Geohot has in his possession a new untethered bootrom level exploit which can be used to pwn future iOS devices like iPhone 5 and iPad 2G for life. Read more…

iOS 4.1 Jailbreak will be coming out by iPhone Dev-Team

Couple of days ago I wrote about the new iOS 4.1 firmware update release by Apple and the fact it will be released next week, Wednesday September 8th. As you all know currently there is no Jailbreak or Unlock solution for the new iOS 4.0.2 or the iOS 4.1.

Dev-Team didn’t want to waste the possible exploit on the minor update which was the iOS 4.0.2 so I wrote an Article about that as well. You can read it here. Instead of wasting another exploit on a minor update (4.0.2 and 3.2.2) the iPhone Dev-Team will focus on finding a new exploit which could be used on the next major firmware update i.e. iOS 4.1.

Today, Dev-Team The iPhone Dev-Team member MuscleNerd comfirmed that Comex is Read more…
