Comex Will Wait for iOS 4.3 / 4.2.5 & Verizon iPhone 4. Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 Coming Soon

On January 12th, Italian site contacted Comex to ask him about whether he is going to wait for Verizon iPhone 4 to launch, and the next iOS release, that is iOS 4.3 / 4.2.5 before releasing his untethered jailbreak.

Comex swiftly replied that one month is too long a wait to keep the long-awaited untethered jailbreak from releasing. But Comex may wait for the release of the Verizon iPhone before releasing his untether, according to a tweet he sent on January 12th. Read more…

Redsn0w 0.9.7 Beta 6 Brings Skype Fix, Next Version Will Use 4.1 SHSH Blobs Instead Of 4.2b3 For 4.2.1 Untether

Hey guys, yet another version of the Redsn0w 0.9.7 Beta 6 was released by the iPhone Dev-Team and this version fixes all Skype related issues which were hampering users ever since the first beta of this untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak.

The iPhone Dev-Team has updated RedSn0w to fix issues with Skype after performing the ‘backup plan’ untether.

The sixth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). This version fixes Skype (and as expected all along, the Skype issue turns out to be unrelated to sandbox patches). Please do not pirate the 4.2b3 IPSW! Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to that IPSW using these links (the links won’t work unless you’re a legit developer currently logged in). Read more…

Rubyra1n Untethered Exploit For iOS 4.2.1 by GeoHot Coming Out

This is very interesting, I think GeoHot is starting to surface again with another Jailbreak Solution called Rubyra1n which will be Untethered.

According to a recent tweet from MuscleNerd (iPhone Dev-Team) it looks like GeoHot actually has “Untethered” solution for iOS 4.2.1 but it doesn’t cover ALL Apple devices.

Also, GeoHot (a.k.a. George Hotz) had registered a domain named rubyra1n.com, which is now a discussion subject. He registered the domain via GoDaddy back on March 27th 2010.

What’s even more interesting is this: limera1n.com and rubyra1n.com were BOTH registered on the same day. (see Whois Info below) Read more…

Comex Might Wait For Next iOS Firmware Update To Release Untethered Jailbreak

Hey Guys, I have some good and bad news for all users who are waiting on Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 from Comex.

An iPhone Italia Italian site contacted Comex of Spirit and JailbreakMe fame to ask him about whether or not he is going to release his untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 4.2.1.

Comex’s reply was swift and simple, just like Steve Jobs normally does in his emails back to users. The news was quite shocking for those who are eagerly waiting for the Comex’s release to untethered jailbreak iOS 4.2.1.

He is going to wait for Apple to release the next firmware update to public before releasing his tool. Read more…

We’ve updated redsn0w to include “one-click” support for those of you running the tethered 4.2.1 jailbreak. Using command-line arguments, you can now bypass the screens you’d normally see as you use redsn0w to “Just boot tethered for now”. Read more…

Redsn0w 0.9.7 Beta 4 Out, DOWNLOAD IT HERE, No Need of ‘usbmuxd’ Process, Windows Version Is Next!

As promised, iPhone Dev-Team had delivered the new and updated RedSn0w 9.7b4 this morning… The Redsn0w 9.7b4 has been released and it removes the usbmuxd requirement to untether your jailbreak.

Unfortunately, this release is Mac only and can only be used by those with their iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved. A Windows version will be released soon.

The fourth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). Starting with this version, redsn0w no longer requires you to install and run a separate program for the usbmux (this was a non-trivial procedure for many). It’s okay to keep that program running if you normally use it for ssh anyway. Read more…

Updated RedSn0w 9.7b4 Beta Will be Released Today, Windows Update Is Coming Next

RedSn0w .9.7b4 will be released today to untether your iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak without the need for usbmuxd which is much easier than using the Terminal, Commands, etc.

This untether is a ‘backup plan’ from the iPhone Dev-Team. It requires access to the iOS 4.2b3 firmware and your iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved.

Currently, the untether is Mac only but the next update will bring Windows support. According to the latest tweet from Dev-Team, they will be expanding the Redsn0w into Windows with the next update (Hopefully) Read more…

How to Untether Your iPhone 4.2.1 Jailbreak with RedSn0w

Just a quick heads up! Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta was out yesterday to bring untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 but some of our readers has reported that usbmuxd process  is not working with them.

Also Windows users were left behind and couldn’t convert their devices to untethered jailbreak.

Though, the iPhone Dev Team is working hard on releasing new betas so in a new tweet today confirming that Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 will incorporates usbmuxd so you shouldn’t worry anymore. In the same tweet, the iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that after finishing this task, the next version (Redsn0w 0.9.7b5) will include the Windows version. Read more…
