RedSn0w and Corona Updated to Fix Launchctl Error With Untethered Jailbreak

RedSn0w and Corona have been updated to resolve a launchctl related error experienced after jailbreaking, thanks to help from saurik and planetbeing.

The b2 version of redsn0w includes the launchctl-related fix by @planetbeing as mentioned by @saurik here and here. As usual, you can just re-run redsn0w in jailbreak mode over your existing 5.0.1 jailbreak (even a PwnageTool one), making sure to de-select “Install Cydia” if you do. Always be sure to do a controlled “slide to power off” shutdown of your device before running redsn0w.

Saurik Added New “Manage Account” Feature To Cydia, Now You Can See Every App That You Ever Purchased on Cydia and Much More

Jay Freeman (a.k.a. Saurik) has updated Cydia with a new ‘Manage Account’ feature that lets you easily view and install packages already purchased.

This is a great addition to Cydia because now, if you restore your firmware (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch), or purchase a new device – iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, you can easily install all your Cydia Jailbreak apps and tweaks without having to manually look for them again in Cydia repositories.

You can find the new feature right on the Cydia homescreen. Only packages purchased using Cydia’s payment system will be displayed. If an application uses its own payment system it won’t be visible on the list. Read more…

Jay Freeman (a.k.a Saurik) Announces CydiaSubstrate for Mac - Cydia is Coming to Mac

Apple is busily working to bring the App Store to the Mac and now Saurik has announced that he will be bringing Cydia to the Mac as well.

Last week Jay Freeman also known as Saurik presented at 360|MacDev giving an overview of his upcoming jailbreak store for Mac OS X, Cycript, and Cydia Substrate.

Today Saurik has announced that he has created a new version of MobileSubstrate called ‘CydiaSubstrate’ that runs on both iOS and Mac OS X, ArsTechnica reports.

“Just like you can make all these modifications on the iPhone, you can make these same modifications on the desktop,” Freeman said. “Until now, there has never been a way to easily install modifications to the system or third-party applications, as well as keep them updated.” Read more…

Hey guys, this is a quick heads up for everyone… People at ModMyi have put together a list of improvements found in the new version of Cydia. The new Cydia came out to public (very quietly) during the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Commenting on the release Saurik said, “some of my long term performance plans are ‘hitting pay dirt’, and Cydia is much faster than it was before; that said, it isn’t done yet: there’s one more thing that I think is going to make a huge difference that isn’t even in there yet but should be for the final release.”

Install Cydia Tweaks & Apps using Redsn0w 0.9.6b3 [Guide]

Earlier today we posted that iPhone Dev Team has released New Redsn0w 0.9.6b3 with OpenSSH and APT patches which is really useful for app developers who wants to try their Cydia tweaks and jailbreak apps on iOS 4.2.1.

As you know, Cydia is still broken on iOS 4.2.1 and the new version is not out yet but with the latest version of Redsn0w, you can install jailbreak apps without Cydia installed on your iOS device. Your jailbreak-app package must be in gzip-compressed tar format that Redsn0w can read and also it must be around 15MB in size.

The iPhone Dev Team already released OpenSSH package can be download from here which is used to install OpenSSH using the instructions below. Read more…
