Ok, so here is what I have for you today.. It appears GreenPois0n RC5 will be bringing untethered jailbreak to iOS 4.2.1 sooner rather than we all thought and will support all devices.

Here is why. Apple has now closed the loophole hackers have been using up until iOS 4.3.

The Chronic Dev-Team has announced an untether for the iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak. Chronic Dev Team have just released a new video which shows full untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 in action.

The untether is demoed in the video below. It’s a result of a collaboration between @0naj, @p0sixninja, and @pod2g. P0sixninja has previously said it will not require iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs.

Pod2g notes that a small bug remains where the wifi icon doesn’t show up. Once fixed they will package the untether for release. Read more…

Instead of releasing another tethered version (like Redsn0w 0.9.6) of GreenPois0n for iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak, members of Chronic Dev have decided to work on their own untethered solution for iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak.

The Chronic Dev-Team is working on their own untether for the iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak that will not require iOS4.2b3 SHSH blobs, according to tweets made today by p0sixninja.

When asked if it is the same exploit as the one Comex has been working on, and whether or not it will require SHSH blobs for 4.2b3 like Redsn0w 0.9.7. Joshua said that they are working on their own untethered exploit, and that it will not require SHHS blobs for 4.2b3. Read more…

iPhone developer Joshua Hill of the Chronic Dev Team has publicly confirmed that he is going to release an updated version of GreenPois0n with support for iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak as soon as he is done adding sandbox patches.

Well this is not a big surprise (at least not to me) but we all saw this coming! Remember when Geohot (a.k.a. George Hotz) shared his Limera1n exploit with Chronic Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team to use in the Greenpois0n Jailbreak tool?

Well it was put to a good use. The Apple TV 2 has been hacked to inject third party software via an unreleased version of Greenpois0n.

The limera1n exploit based GreenPois0n tool has finally jailbroken the 2nd-generation Apple TV. Members of Chronic Dev Team posted an image as a proof, showing a custom loader with a background on the Apple TV, running iOS 4.1.

If you are a Cydia developer; this will open a big opportunity for you to make apps, tweaks, games in the coming weeks and months! This will also give opportunity to me to crack all the .deb files and provide them to all of you guys free of charge in my tutorials and download articles.

Apparently, the Chronic Dev Team was having issues making GreenPois0n work on Mac but after many trials and errors they have finally released the Mac version of Greenpois0n which is now available for download

Well, despite all the chaos everyone went through after GeoHot suddenly appeared in the jailbreak scene the Chronic Dev Team has finally released GreenPois0n to public after they have implemented GeoHot’s / Limera1n exploit into the Greenpois0n Jailbreak tool .

You can use it to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G / 3G and iPad. Support for iPod touch 2G and Apple TV will be added soon.

Here is a detailed Greenpois0n Tutorial on how to Jailbreak iOS 4.1 iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 4G, iPad with this tool.

Update your iPhone and / or iPod Touch to iOS 4.1 and if you are Jailbreaking your iPad you will have to update your iPad to the iOS 3.2.2 before you can jailbreak your device.

NOTE TO UNLOCKERS!!!: If you rely on your current unlock, do not update to iOS 4.1 because if you do you will upgrade your Baseband / Modem Firmware as well, making it impossible for now to unlock. Read more…
