Well guys, I have told you about this back in October of 2010 and now the great VLC Media Player is gone from the AppStore for good. I hope you have downloaded a copy of it before it was pulled from the AppStore, if not you’re in luck because I have copies of this app so you can still get it right here at iPhoneTechie.

VLC, the very popular media player for Windows, Mac and Linux which was ported to the Apple iPad in September and also to the iPhone in October, but now it is gone from the App Store because of of copyright infringement.

Apple has been sent a formal notification of copyright infringement regarding the way VLC for iOS is distributed in the App Store to the developers back in October of 2010.

A huge surge in App Store piracy is expected as the Hackulous community plans to release a ‘reverse BitTorrent’ system that will leverage millions of users to supply apps, according to TorrentFreak.

In the past, owners of App Store apps would have to crack the software using something like Clutch then patch, test, upload and submit it to Apptrakr in order to grow its database and enable others to download. Not surprisingly the learning curve dissuaded all but a tiny minority from even trying.

Described by Dissident as a kind of ‘reverse BitTorrent’, Mobile Hunt is a clever way of utilizing an existing network of millions of peers to provide a solution to the app supply bottleneck.

“Essentially what will happen is when you’re using Installous you’ll get a little pop up that says ‘Hey, you have an application that Apptrakr doesn’t. We will add the application to a queue in the background (if you say yes) and it will start uploading tiny pieces of it, kind of like a torrent, up to the cloud’,” Hackulous admin Dissident explains. The Food Network has released an application for the iPhone and iPad called ‘In the Kitchen’. My wife is a great chef so this app is an awesome addition to our iPad.

Twitter, Inc. has launched the official Twitter app for iPhone this week and now it’s available for downloads free of charge via AppStore.

For those of you who don’t know, the famous iPhone app named “Tweetie” was recently acquired by Twitter Inc. and now after a long wait, they have finally released it as “Twitter” App for iPhone.

The app is labeled as version 3.0 and can be downloaded for free from the iTunes App Store. Tweetie 2 was available for US $2.99 before Twitter Inc. purchased it.
