Redsn0w 0.9.6b3 for iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak Now Available for Download

The iPhone Dev-Team has released a new version of redsn0w that can jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 and install custom bundles independent of Cydia.

Please note that this version of Redsn0w is meant for developers only and does not install the new version of Cydia. This version of Redsn0w is also tethered for newer devices and that means whenever your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch is dead or turned off it would have to be re-jailbroken again via Redsn0w.

If you’re on the road and your iPhone has to be restarted you will have to re-jailbreak it again and again EVERY TIME you shut your iDevice OFF or if your Battery Dies.

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS AN ADVANCED TOPIC!! It’s not meant for the masses because it involves rather nerdy things like command lines and tar files.  But for those who know how to use this new redsn0w feature, have fun! Read more…

What You Need to Know Before iOS 4.2 is Released

Up to this point there were many rumors about the new Apple iOS 4.2 and many predictions were way off up to this point but there is a very good possibility the new Apple iOS 4.2 will be released this Friday along with the new updated iTunes version 10.1 which is a requirement for the iOS 4.2 Firmwares.

New Jailbreak for the iOS 4.2 will be available for all iDevices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and of course the new Apple TV) but before you jump the gun and update your iDevice to this version you should read this article and take some precautions as well.

The new iOS 4.2 Firmware version will bring a huge update to the iPad with features such as: Multitasking, Folders, Game Center, New Search and Finder for the Safari Browser, AirPrint (With AirPrint you will be able to print Mail/Photos/Web pages directly to any printer on WiFi network) and AirPlay (Stream Media to Apple TV / AirPlay speakers)

The iPhone Dev-Team has issued a statement in advance of Apple releasing iOS 4.2 to the public. Please read the following carefully to ensure you will be able to retain your untethered jailbreak and unlock into iOS 4.2.

First Look at Updated Cydia for iOS 4.2 Jailbreak

In the beginning of this week on November 2nd I have written an article about the new iOS 4.2 Jailbreak delay due to Cydia not being ready and / or compatible with the new Operating System / Firmware iOS 4.2.

The main issue was the fact that Cydia is not compatible with the new iOS 4.2 Applications, .deb packages and basically just doesn’t work with the new iOS 4.2 system, period…

So after trying the new iOS 4.2 GM firmware and using the new Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 I was able to jailbreak my iPhone but found our pretty quick that Cydia and a lot of Jailbreaking Apps / .deb packages were completely broken.

Our good friend’s iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd tweet today is giving us a little bit of a hope because he said; both chpwn and saurik are burning the midnight oil to get it working as soon as possible.

Here is a screenshot of the new updated Cydia and looking at this screen it definitely looks like it is in fact being updated. The GUI looks totally different. Read more…

iOS 4.2 Untethered Jailbreak May Be Delayed Because Cydia is Not Yet Ready for the New Firmware

iOS 4.2 Jailbreak Might be delayed due to Cydia not being ready

Hey guys I have some bad news for all Jailbreakers out there who are anxiously waiting on the iOS 4.2 since the iPhone Dev Team said it could be Jailbroken right after Apple releases it.

According to a tweet from Comex the iOS 4.2 jailbreak may be delayed because Cydia is not yet ready for the new firmware and so as a result, the next update for Limera1n based iOS 4.2 jailbreak might be delayed but he didn’t really say anything else about it. At this point there is no estimated release date for the new iOS 4.2 Jailbreak but I’m sure it won’t be too long.

This would be a good time for all of you to save your SHSH blobs on your iPhones, iPads or iPod Touch devices running on iOS 4.1, tutorial is at the end of this article.
However, a 4.2 jailbreak might be delayed because Cydia doesn’t work on 4.2 yet. Not sure how close @chpwn is to finishing his fixes. Read more…

Jailbreak iOS 4.2 GM on iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPad and iPod touch with Redsn0w 0.9.6b2

Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 Jailbreak Tool - Jailbreak iOS 4.2 GM on iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G and iPod touch with Redsn0w 0.9.6b2

The iPhone Dev-Team has confirmed that RedSn0w 0.9.6b2 can jailbreak iOS 4.2 GM Seed; however, they warn it should only be attempted by advanced users.

This tutorial will show you everything you need to do, step by step how to Jailbreak  iOS 4.2 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPad (on iOS 3.2.2) and iPod touch 4G / 3G / 2G using the newly released RedSn0w 0.9.6b2 jailbreak tool for Windows or Mac

Today Apple released to developers the GM seed for 4.2. Tinkerers will find that yesterday’s redsn0w jailbreaks today’s 4.2 GM seed, simply by pointing redsn0w at the 4.1 IPSW (rather than the 4.2 one).

Right now it mostly only makes sense for JB app developers to do that because many apps (including Cydia itself) need to be Read more…
