iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak for Non-A5 Devices Has Been Released!

Pod2g’s untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, and iPad 1, has been released, according the iPhone Dev-Team.

A few days ago, @pod2g gave the untether to both the iPhone devteam and the chronic devteam. We’ve put it into redsn0w 0.9.10 and PwnageTool, and the chronic devteam put it into a Cydia package (the same set of exploits is in all three).

It has been almost 8 weeks since the first declaration by pod2g that he had found a bug that he believed could provide an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5. We find ourselves exactly fifty days down the line, and what I imagine has been a lot of sleepless nights for the developers involved, but we now officially have the release of an untethered jailbreak for all A4 devices running iOS 5.0.1. iPhone Dev Team Released the PwnageTool 4.1

PwnageTool 4.1 has been released about 2 hours ago. You can use it to create custom firmware files without upgrading your basebands / Modem Firmware to (2.10.4 / 05.14.02)  on your iPhone 4, 3GS and iPhone 3G running on iOS 4.1 so that you can unlock it using the existing version of Ultrasn0w.

This version of PwnageTool also supports hacktivation so you don’t have to have original SIM in your device to have it up and running after the jailbreak.

These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1 using PwnageTool for Mac. Read more…
