We recently reported that ex-Chronic Dev Team member pod2g tweeted out that he found an untether bug for iOS 5.

Other than the information given previously, it is unknown on how far he’s gotten as well as when we can expect public release. Although he’s remained MIA for the last couple of months or so, he seems to be actively keeping us updated on what’s in store. GeoHotz Will Be Releasing an Untethered Jailbreak After February 10th! When Verizon iPhone 4 Comes Out?

MuscleNerd recently tweeted to Pod2G, that he thinks GeoHotz will be releasing an untethered jailbreak for newer A4 iDevices after February 10th.

Could this mean that GeoHotz will be releasing the rumored RubyRa1n jailbreaking tool? I really don’t know but this is the second time MuscleNerd has tweeted about GeoHotz having an untethered jailbreak for newer iDevices (the first time being in the beginning of January). Read more…

iOS 4.1 Jailbreak Using New Bootrom Based Exploit was found on the same day after Apple released the iOS 4.1

iOS 4.1 Exploit has been found, Bootrom low level exploit

iOS 4.1 was hacked and exploit was found hours after Apple released it on Wednesday September 8th. This exploit will work with iPhone 4, iPad, iPod Touch (New 4G) so don’t worry, the Jailbreak release for iOS 4.1 is imminent.

I’m not sure if you guys heard this or not but the iPhone hacker pod2g who is part of the Chronic Dev Team and also  the same person who previously found the 24kpwn exploit has successfully managed to find another bootrom based exploit which can jailbreak all iOS based devices on the latest iOS 4.1 firmware.

And this means is that the next jailbreak is going to be based on bootrom exploit which unlike JailbreakMe will enable users to change boot and recovery mode logos among many other things and also could mean that it will be TETHERED or UNTETHERED.
