iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak for Non-A5 Devices Has Been Released!

Pod2g’s untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, and iPad 1, has been released, according the iPhone Dev-Team.

A few days ago, @pod2g gave the untether to both the iPhone devteam and the chronic devteam. We’ve put it into redsn0w 0.9.10 and PwnageTool, and the chronic devteam put it into a Cydia package (the same set of exploits is in all three).

It has been almost 8 weeks since the first declaration by pod2g that he had found a bug that he believed could provide an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5. We find ourselves exactly fifty days down the line, and what I imagine has been a lot of sleepless nights for the developers involved, but we now officially have the release of an untethered jailbreak for all A4 devices running iOS 5.0.1. iPhone Dev Team Updates Redsn0w To 0.9.9b7, Brings Faster Jailbreak Option

iPhone Dev Team has announced a highly welcomed Redns0w update. The latest Redsn0w 0.9.9b7 brings us a new option in the “extras” section in which you can choose to either have Redsn0w skip or stash the default applications during the jailbreak.

This new method skips the stashing of applications during the jailbreak process thus making it 60% faster. Don’t get too excited though because if you check the ‘move applications’ option you will have to deal with a slow first run of Cydia, details below: Read more…

How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, iPod Touch Using RedSn0w (Windows and Mac) [4.3.3]

These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS on the 4.3.3 firmware using RedSn0w for Windows. The Mac version of this tutorial is absolutely the same

Make sure not to update to iOS 4.3.3 if you need an unlock as one is not yet available unless you opt to use the iPad baseband.

IMPORTANT FOR UNLOCKERS
During this process you can update your baseband to the 06.15 version. If you are on 05.14 or 05.15 or higher you will need to do this to unlock. You do not need to do this for jailbreak only. Please read the following very carefully before deciding whether to do this. Read more…

Redsn0w 0.9.7 Beta 6 Brings Skype Fix, Next Version Will Use 4.1 SHSH Blobs Instead Of 4.2b3 For 4.2.1 Untether

Hey guys, yet another version of the Redsn0w 0.9.7 Beta 6 was released by the iPhone Dev-Team and this version fixes all Skype related issues which were hampering users ever since the first beta of this untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak.

The iPhone Dev-Team has updated RedSn0w to fix issues with Skype after performing the ‘backup plan’ untether.

The sixth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). This version fixes Skype (and as expected all along, the Skype issue turns out to be unrelated to sandbox patches). Please do not pirate the 4.2b3 IPSW! Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to that IPSW using these links (the links won’t work unless you’re a legit developer currently logged in). Read more…

Redsn0w 0.9.7 Beta 4 Out, DOWNLOAD IT HERE, No Need of ‘usbmuxd’ Process, Windows Version Is Next!

As promised, iPhone Dev-Team had delivered the new and updated RedSn0w 9.7b4 this morning… The Redsn0w 9.7b4 has been released and it removes the usbmuxd requirement to untether your jailbreak.

Unfortunately, this release is Mac only and can only be used by those with their iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved. A Windows version will be released soon.

The fourth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). Starting with this version, redsn0w no longer requires you to install and run a separate program for the usbmux (this was a non-trivial procedure for many). It’s okay to keep that program running if you normally use it for ssh anyway. Read more…

Updated RedSn0w 9.7b4 Beta Will be Released Today, Windows Update Is Coming Next

RedSn0w .9.7b4 will be released today to untether your iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak without the need for usbmuxd which is much easier than using the Terminal, Commands, etc.

This untether is a ‘backup plan’ from the iPhone Dev-Team. It requires access to the iOS 4.2b3 firmware and your iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved.

Currently, the untether is Mac only but the next update will bring Windows support. According to the latest tweet from Dev-Team, they will be expanding the Redsn0w into Windows with the next update (Hopefully) Read more…

How to Untether Your iPhone 4.2.1 Jailbreak with RedSn0w

Just a quick heads up! Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta was out yesterday to bring untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 but some of our readers has reported that usbmuxd process  is not working with them.

Also Windows users were left behind and couldn’t convert their devices to untethered jailbreak.

Though, the iPhone Dev Team is working hard on releasing new betas so in a new tweet today confirming that Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 will incorporates usbmuxd so you shouldn’t worry anymore. In the same tweet, the iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that after finishing this task, the next version (Redsn0w 0.9.7b5) will include the Windows version. Read more…
