Sony Takes Geohot and Fail0verfl0w Members to Court Over PS3 Jailbreak and Exploits going Public.

Our boy GeoHot also known as George Hotz is being sued by Sony Corporation for making PlayStation 3 exploits and jailbreak tools public.

It’s the latter topic that has finally gotten him in trouble after he released his hack for PS3 firmware version 3.55. Despite claiming on his site that he condones piracy and the hack should not be used to disable key features, Sony has finally had enough and issued a lawsuit.

Sony has just filed a restraining order against Geohot and members of team fail0verflow for jailbreaking the Sony Playstation 3 and making this exploit available to general public.

Defendants George Hotz, “Bushing,” Hector Cantero, Sven Peter and “Segher” (collectively, “Defendants”) are computer hackers. Working individually and in concert with one another, Defendants recently bypassed effective technological protection measures (“TPMs”) employed by plaintiff Sony Computer Entertainment America LLP (“SCEA”) in its proprietary PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system (“PS3 System”). Sony Introduced the world’s first HDTV Internet TV, Includes pre-installed apps including CNBC, Napster, NBA, Netflix, Pandora, Twitter, and YouTube

Today SONY has introduced new line of Sony Internet TV, powered by Google TV, which offers the ability to watch HDTV, enjoy apps, and browse the Internet.

The models feature Sony’s premium streaming service “Video On Demand powered by Qriocity” as well as pre-installed apps including CNBC, Napster, NBA, Netflix, Pandora, Twitter, and YouTube.


“Sony Internet TV is the world’s first HDTV that combines the big-screen impact of television and full Internet search to deliver an unrivaled entertainment experience,” said Mike Abary, senior vice president of Sony’s Home Division. “Finally, you can seamlessly search your favorite TV programs and web sites on the same screen, at the same time.” Read more…
