Steve Jobs Moves Up 40 Spots on Forbes Most Powerful People List

Our iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple hero Steve Jobs has moved up 40 spots on Forbes World’s Most Powerful People list.

Back in 2009, Jobs was ranked number 57. This year he is ranked number 17 which is pretty close to the top 10 but he is still 7 spaces away from the top ten in Forbes’ list of most powerful people on the planet.

He did surpassed many other very well known technology geeks and CEOs, including the very powerful Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have dropped from their fifth place ranking to 22nd and 23rd. Bill Gates still comes in at number 10 so Steve Jobs has another 7 spots to move before he can reach his former friend.

Other tech names to note? Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg at number 40, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos at spot 60 and, bizarrely, WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange at number 68.

Still, good news all around for Steve Jobs, who is now officially the second most powerful man in tech. At the very least, it means there’s only sixteen people in the world that Jobs is compelled to doff his hat to.
