An iPhone Italia Italian site contacted Comex of Spirit and JailbreakMe fame to ask him about whether or not he is going to release his untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 4.2.1.

Comex’s reply was swift and simple, just like Steve Jobs normally does in his emails back to users. The news was quite shocking for those who are eagerly waiting for the Comex’s release to untethered jailbreak iOS 4.2.1.

He is going to wait for Apple to release the next firmware update to public before releasing his tool. Read more…

Redsn0w 0.9.7 Beta 4 Out, DOWNLOAD IT HERE, No Need of ‘usbmuxd’ Process, Windows Version Is Next!

As promised, iPhone Dev-Team had delivered the new and updated RedSn0w 9.7b4 this morning… The Redsn0w 9.7b4 has been released and it removes the usbmuxd requirement to untether your jailbreak.

Unfortunately, this release is Mac only and can only be used by those with their iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved. A Windows version will be released soon.

The fourth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). Starting with this version, redsn0w no longer requires you to install and run a separate program for the usbmux (this was a non-trivial procedure for many). It’s okay to keep that program running if you normally use it for ssh anyway. Read more…

The iPhone Dev-Team has released a beta of their ‘backup plan’ untethered jailbreak. Currently the beta is only for Mac users and is limited to iPhone4, iPad, and iPod touch 4G.

Since Comex didn’t finish the Untethered Jailbreak in time for Christmas the iPhone Dev-Team came out with their “backup plan” (Redsn0w 0.9.7) for untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak. The just released beta version of Redsn0w will enable you to jailbreak (untethered) iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on iOS 4.2.1.

The Redsn0w 0.9.7 jailbreak tool has been updated yet again. This time fixing even more bugs, specifically the ones related to non-GUI programs which handles media content like the embedded videos in iTunes.
