VLC Media Player for iPhone and iPod touch Removed from AppStore

Well guys, I have told you about this back in October of 2010 and now the great VLC Media Player is gone from the AppStore for good. I hope you have downloaded a copy of it before it was pulled from the AppStore, if not you’re in luck because I have copies of this app so you can still get it right here at iPhoneTechie.

VLC, the very popular media player for Windows, Mac and Linux which was ported to the Apple iPad in September and also to the iPhone in October, but now it is gone from the App Store because of of copyright infringement.

Apple has been sent a formal notification of copyright infringement regarding the way VLC for iOS is distributed in the App Store to the developers back in October of 2010.

VLC Media Player for iPhone and iPod touch Now Available for Download

VLC, the very popular media player for Windows, Mac and Linux which was ported to the Apple iPad in September and also to the iPhone last week, may very soon (too soon if you ask me) be gone from the App Store because of of copyright infringement.

Apple has been sent a formal notification of copyright infringement regarding the way VLC for iOS is distributed in the App Store.

Rémi Denis-Courmont, one of the primary developers of VLC, explained to MacStories that Apple’s iTunes Terms and Conditions don’t allow users to install both free and paid apps on more than 5 devices. This goes against the original GNU license VLC’s code is based on. Read more…

Remember back in September (20th) I wrote about the VLC Media Player which is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player, and at that time it was approved by Apple only for the iPad.

Today VLC Media Player has been updated as a universal binary and is now available for the iPhone.

VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework, that plays most multimedias files and various streaming protocols. It is simple to use, yet very powerful and extendable.

VLC has all codecs built-in. It comes with support for nearly all codec there is. And what is more it can even play back the file or media if it is damaged! Missing or broken pieces are no stop to VLC, it plays all the video and audio information that’s still intact. Read more…

VLC Media Player, a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player, has been approved by Apple and is now available for the iPad

Ad you know currently iPad only supports H.264, .mp4 and .mov video formats which doesn’t give you many options to chose from and of course you currently have to convert video files in iTunes before moving them to the iPad and sometimes it just isn’t worth the time and effort.
